My friend since high school Rider Bethany looks over the Sierra Nevada mountains of Sequoia National Park and ponders the vast universe: ‘Who are we, to worry?’

Happiest day, beloved Joy Train Rider! I love you! Bless you. I affirm you’re feeling vibrant and focused to accomplish something small or huge.

I try to always affirm the human connection in every interaction I have with others. If I call a company, I say hello to the person who answers and ask how they’re doing. Sometimes they’re taken aback and other times eager. I end each email with “love, Audrey,” because I believe that, at the center of each of us, is a desire for love. I have it in abundance because it’s continually replenished by all of life.

Today Joy Train Rider beloved Bethany Powell will be our guest conductor, sharing the exciting adventure that she and her partner Peter shared over the weekend in celebration of his 70th birthday. Bethany and Peter and I went to high school together in Jamaica though they were several years behind me. Her family came to Jamaica from the UK when her dad became the Chaplain of our alma mater Clarendon College. We share the love of nature and communicating. You’ll be amazed how much she enables you to see, hear and feel.

Take her away, beloved Bethany!

“We shouldn’t have gone to Sequoia National Park this trip. There wasn’t enough time and it added five hours to our drive. But we went anyway. Because we had to.

“The majestic park awes, nestles, inspires. Whether it is the ancient redwoods and sequoias that climb inexorably heavenwards; the snow-clad peaks that rise like a perfect painting in the distance; or the blue ridges of the Sierra Nevada that float off with alternating layers of mist into infinity - there is almost too much for the mind to comprehend.

“At the encouragement of total strangers (this is common to all national parks. Total strangers greet you like old friends and share their experiences) we climbed the granite dome, Moro Rock. 350 odd steps, handrails for security, it challenged our fitness and cardio-pulmonary health. Thankfully there were numerous places to stop, stare and recoup. And be encouraged by those descending. ‘It is worth it’;” ‘You can make it’. And it was, and we did.
