I was up at the crack of dawn to welcome the Sun and call for cosmic intervention in our current travail.
Happiest day beloved Joy Train Rider! I love you. Bless you. I pray you are doing well.
Today we recognize a turn of events unprecedented in our recent history, crossing a line that experts in political history such as Steve Schmidt describe as “the moment this fascist cause would deploy hard power against the American people on a foundation of lies. . . has arrived.”
Still, I say “happiest day” because I expect that on any day - in a moment, even - humanity can awaken like Snow White from the spell, kissed awake by the Prince of Truth. With our values under attack and the entire concept of humanity being touted as “flawed by empathy,” there’s dire urgency for us to wake up.
“Do Jesus! Take the wheel!” my mother-in-law Veta Mae would exclaim at something that defied ethical standard. I can’t imagine what she might say if she were alive today.
It strikes me that we have arrived here as probably the natural end result of the lies we have come to accommodate on a daily basis. We’ve known that “equality and justice for all” are still aspirational goals, and many of us turn our head away when the reality of this comes too close to home. We have accepted money as the ultimate value and consider those who’ve acquired more than they could ever use while children starve and old women suffer, as “brilliant” and “superior.”
We buy the fraud that “celebrity” is to be striven for and “celebrities” enjoy enviable lives even after we learn they’re often mistreated and desperately unhappy. We mouth “God” and “life” while ostracizing and demonizing “others.”
In these and sundry other ways we subvert truth as part of our daily life. A refusal to question. results in more and more lying insults being piled upon us from the erstwhile “pillars” of American society. And over it all now hangs the pall of our government which has become the source of our problems rather than the source of our help.
Standing before Half Dome in Yosemite Valley is like looking into the face of God.
