Our sun relinquishes priority to Mother Earth today and I HAD TO SHARE this Rainbow Mountain I just learned is in Peru.
Happiest day, beloved Joy Train Rider! Bless you! I love you! I hope you’re doing well.
It’s Earth Day 2024 with a focus on “Planet vs. Plastics.” It’s superfluous to say that by now, every day should be Earth Day when we focus on what we can do to heal - or at least not harm - our sole planetary home. I feel the same as when I go into a supermarket with 18 aisles but only ONE is labeled “Health Foods.” What are we getting from the other 17 aisles?
I’m extremely grateful for Earth Day when a significant percentage of the world focuses on the health of our planet. I’m also grateful for the supermarket which makes it convenient to get many things in one place.
I’m convinced that the only way for all of us to become fully committed to treating our Earth Mother with respect is for us to fall in love with her all over again. Remember when you were a child and you lived to explore what was in your backyard - lucky ones like me having a whole “gully” to play in with my friends? We couldn’t wait to get outside in the mornings and didn’t come home till dusk. We wanted to be explorers and save animals and just generally loved the world.
Somewhere around our teenage years that became uncool, and we discarded them as “childish,” in order to “fit in” with the “sophisticated” crowd. If we look at the shame that has brought us - a planet burdened with pollution, Black and brown children choking on it and sick from birth, rampant injustice - we should be happy to turn back to loving Earth.
It’s National Parks Week and I encourage you to check out the National Park Service website, where you can search for parks by what’s near you, or whatever topic you choose.
Yesterday I had a ravishing experience at our local Hope Royal Botanical Gardens a few miles up the road on the same street as Bob Marley Museum, that made me truly appreciate how urban spaces can give you the same experiences and feelings as visiting a national park. It’s not that I didn’t already know this - it was just such a rush to feel it again.
When I shared it on Facebook, it got many ecstatic comments, including, “This is living;” “I felt I was right there” and, icing on the cake:
“I love your attitude, positivity and the joy you so obviously live with! Thank you for reminding me to live like that this morning. Blessings to you.”
