This morning I’m overwhelmed with joy by the stunning State of the Union Address that beloved President Biden gave last night, backed by a glowing VP Harris. I’m optimistic and ready to work with greater focus toward the vision they share.
Learning now that the very air in which we move is fraught with potential to serve us – Nikola Tesla saying we could pull energy out of the air - learning how trees communicate with each other and share a complementary relationship; how humans are beginning to understand bird behavior -makes me feel that the day will soon come when interspecies communication is commonplace.
Frankly, if we hadn’t seen the Yosemite Valley floor exhale as the sun strokes its dew filled meadows; communed with Mount Denali clothed in its Alpine glow, or watched the sun undress Grand Canyon from Havasupai Gardens, I may be challenged to imagine a world of such boundless possibility. The fact that I can imagine it means it’s possible so I will create a world of love and peace where my main activity is weaving light.
How about we pay a visit to some current eye-opening developments that reaffirm how much remains to be uncovered?
First, we’re dropping into the meeting of the Sub-commission on Quaternary Stratigraphy (I had no idea!) where a majority of members decided NOT to declare a new geological epoch, the Anthropocene, that would define how humans have affected the Earth. The decision on the 15-year study was not unanimous.
The stunning 55-light-years-wide Lagoon Nebula is a ‘small” aggregation of the light of which all life is part.
Here we are in France walking with this gentleman and his dog and – voila! An almost fully intact dinosaur skeleton is looming out of the cliff. How appropriate and fortunate that the gentleman is a paleontologist.
